My responsibilities as Mayor include the oversight and management of the Franklin Park Police Department (PD). I am extremely proud of the PD’s reputation for excellence. Under my leadership many new safety measures have been implemented.

Significantly reduced the number of traffic accidents occurring in our Borough

  • Added higher visibility, solar-powered, flashing Stop signs at the following intersections:
  • Wexford-Bayne at Big Sewickley Creek, Brandt School at Wexford Run, and Brandt School at Pine Creek.
  • Converted Brandt School at West Ingomar to a three-way Stop sign.
  • Modified and converted Rochester at Nicholson to a four-way Stop sign.
  • Installed digital speed signs on Brandt School and Nicholson.
  • Installed cameras at numerous intersections and parks to capture illegal activity and aid in solving crime and prosecuting offenders.
  • Currently working with PennDOT to redesign the 79/910 interchange for improved traffic flow.

Increased the size of and funding for Franklin Park PD

  • Reorganized PD to 15 full-time police officers, including a Chief, a Lieutenant and 3 Sergeants.
  • Purchased body-cameras for all officers on patrol.
  • Modernized police vehicles and incorporated GPS for officer safety.
  • Increased the level of education and training.
  • Renovated the PD to improve officer productivity and efficiency.
  • Procured funding to acquire polygraph machine for criminal investigations and background checks.

Authorized Franklin Park PD to participate in the North Hills Special Response Team.

Has Served on Executive Committee for the Pennsylvania State Mayors’ Association since 2015.

During his tenure as Mayor he has served as Chair of the Franklin Park Borough Public Safety Committee.

Mayor O’Keefe and Borough Council strongly support the Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company (FPVFC).

  • Together they commissioned a new $5.5 million dollar state-of-the-art Fire Station in 2017, and purchased a ladder truck in 2020.
  • Mayor O’Keefe will continue to work with Borough Council to keep FPVFC‘s equipment up to date.
